Location Identification Guide
During Census 2027 Self-Enumeration, you will need to provide your exact location details and mark your building on an interactive map. This guide helps you find the right information.
Step 1 — Select Your District
A district is an administrative subdivision of your State or Union Territory. Maharashtra has 36 districts. Select the district where your household is actually located, not where you work or pay taxes.
Step 2 — Enter Your PIN Code
Your PIN code (Postal Index Number) is a 6-digit code that identifies your local post office area. Every address in India has one.
- PIN codes in Maharashtra typically start with 4 (e.g., 411001 for Pune)
- You can find your PIN code on any letter or parcel delivered to you
- Or search on India Post website: indiapost.gov.in
Step 3 — Enter Village / Town / Locality
This is the name of your specific neighbourhood, village, or locality within the district.
🌾 Rural Areas
Enter the name of your gram panchayat or village as it appears in government records. Avoid using short forms or nicknames.
🏩️ Urban Areas
Enter the name of your ward, locality, or mohalla. For large cities, this may be a neighbourhood name like "Koregaon Park" or "Andheri West".
Step 4 — Using the Interactive Map
After you enter your location details, the portal will show an interactive map with a red marker pin. You need to drag this pin to the exact location of your building.
- The map will auto-zoom to your approximate area based on the PIN code you entered.
- Look for the red marker pin on the map. It may not be on your exact building yet.
- Tap and hold (on mobile) or click and drag (on computer) the red pin to move it.
- Drag it precisely to your building on the map. Zoom in using + button for accuracy.
- Once positioned correctly, click "Confirm Location" to save your map coordinates.
