Amenities Guide
How to accurately detail the basic amenities available in your household such as drinking water, lighting, latrine, and drainage.
Drinking Water
Select the main source you use for drinking water throughout the year. If the source is different in different seasons, select the one used for the major part of the year.
- Tap water from treated/untreated source
- Covered/Uncovered well
- Hand pump or Tube well / Borehole
Lighting
Select the main source of lighting used in your household. If multiple sources are used, select the primary one.
- Electricity (Grid or Solar)
- Kerosene or Other Oil
- Any other source / No lighting
Latrine Facility
Select the type of latrine used by the members of the household. Be honest as this helps the government plan sanitation infrastructure.
- Flush/pour-flush latrine connected to piped sewer system or septic tank
- Pit latrine (with or without slab/ventilated)
- Open defecation
Drainage
Drainage system for waste water (from kitchen and bathroom).
- Closed drainage (covered with cement/concrete)
- Open drainage (open channels)
- No drainage
Bathing Facility
Select the type of bathing facility available to your household.
- Bathroom within house (enclosed space with water supply inside the home)
- Bathroom outside house (a shared or detached bathing area)
- No bathroom (bathing in open or in another location)
Cooking Fuel
Select the main fuel used for cooking in your household. If multiple fuels are used, select the one most frequently used for the main daily meal.
- LPG/PNG (gas cylinder or piped natural gas) or Electricity
- Firewood, Crop residue, or Cow dung cake
- Coal/Lignite/Charcoal, Kerosene, Biogas, or No cooking
