Assets Guide

The census form asks about various assets and vehicles present in your household. This information is completely confidential and is used solely for statistical purposes to understand the living standards across India.

Vehicles

Indicate the ownership of vehicles by any member of the household.

  • Bicycle
  • Scooter / Motorcycle / Moped
  • Car / Jeep / Van

Electronics & Gadgets

Select the electronic items available in working condition in the household.

  • Radio / Transistor
  • Television
  • Computer / Laptop (with or without internet)

Internet Access

Indicate whether any member of the household has access to the internet. This includes broadband connections as well as internet access via mobile phones (3G/4G/5G).

Social Category

Select the social category of the Head of Household. This determines eligibility for government reservation schemes and welfare programmes.

  • Scheduled Caste (SC) — communities officially designated as SC by the Government of India
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) — indigenous communities officially designated as ST
  • Other — includes OBC, General/Open, and all other communities not designated SC or ST

Main Cereal Consumed

Select the main cereal consumed by members of your household as their staple food. If multiple cereals are consumed equally, choose based on your main lunch or dinner.

  • Rice — if rice is your primary staple cereal
  • Wheat — if chapati/roti made from wheat flour is your primary staple
  • Other cereals — Jowar (sorghum), Bajra (pearl millet), Ragi (finger millet), Maize, or other grains
